Faithlife Proclaim
This guide shows how to use a BeforePreach loop (MP4) or still (JPG) as a background in Proclaim, check that it loops, and run a five-minute countdown in the Warm-Up. The steps follow the Proclaim Help Center. Media you import into Proclaim is stored for your whole team, so you only do it once.
Steps
- 1
Download the shape of your screen
Choose the BeforePreach preset that matches the screen Proclaim sends to. Most are 16:9. A file in the same shape as your presentation fills the screen edge to edge, with no bars and no cropping.
- 2
Import the file
Open the Media Browser and click Import files, to the right of the Search bar. Pick the MP4 or JPG, rename it or add tags if you like, and click Add. It is then available to your group on any computer.
- 3
Set it as a background
Select a song or content item in your presentation, expand the Background menu, and choose the loop or still you imported. Lyrics and text sit on top of it.
- 4
Check that it loops
Proclaim loops motion backgrounds by default. To check, select the service item and look for the Loop video checkbox in the Edit Preview. If there is no checkbox, the video was added as a Video item instead. Video items offer Automatically advance to the next slide, Loop continuously and Do Nothing, and Do Nothing is the default.
- 5
Sound
BeforePreach files have no audio track, so there is nothing to mute and nothing will come through your sound system.
- 6
Put the countdown in the Warm-Up
Every Proclaim presentation has four sections: Pre-Service Loop, Warm-Up, Service and Post-Service Loop. The Warm-Up is meant for countdowns. It plays once, and Proclaim starts it at the right moment for it to finish as the service begins. Add the countdown MP4 there as a Video item and do not set it to loop, so the Warm-Up runs about five minutes and the digits match the clock.
- 7
Go On Air early
Put a calm loop or your announcements in the Pre-Service Loop, which repeats until the Warm-Up begins. Check that the service date and time are right, then go On Air before the Warm-Up is due. Proclaim moves from the Pre-Service Loop into the Warm-Up on its own.
Tips
- Behind lyrics, choose text-safe loops so the words stay clear.
- The 1080p file is enough for most projectors and uploads faster than 4K.
- Anything you want repeated before the service belongs in the Pre-Service Loop. The Warm-Up plays only once by design.
