How to

ProPresenter 7

This guide shows how to put a BeforePreach loop (MP4) or still (JPG) behind your lyrics in ProPresenter 7, keep it looping, and run a five-minute countdown before the service. The steps follow Renewed Vision's support articles. If you run a newer release, a menu name may be slightly different.

Steps

  1. 1

Download the shape of your screen

In BeforePreach, choose the preset that matches your audience screen. Most projectors are 16:9 at 1920×1080. If your output is 4:3, an ultrawide screen or an LED wall, download that shape so the file fills the output without bars.

  2. 2

Add the file to the Media Bin

Drag the MP4 or JPG from your computer into the Media Bin, or click the + in the lower left of the Media Bin. In Settings, on the Media tab, you can turn on Manage Media Automatically. ProPresenter then keeps its own copy, so the background does not go missing when a USB stick is removed.

  3. 3

    Set it as a background

Right-click the item in the Media Bin and choose Set to Background. Backgrounds play on the Media layer, under the Slide layer where your lyrics sit, and stay on screen as you move from slide to slide.

  4. 4

    Make it loop

Right-click the item and open the Inspector. On the Properties tab, set Playback Behavior to Loop. To make every video you import a looping background from now on, open Settings (on a Mac, under the ProPresenter menu), choose the Import tab, and in the Video section pick Background and Loop.

  5. 5

Check the sound and the fit

BeforePreach loops have no audio, so there is nothing to mute. If you want to be sure, the Audio tab of the Inspector sets the item's volume. On the Properties tab, Scaling sets how the item fills the screen. Backgrounds start as Stretch to Fill: when the file matches your screen's shape nothing is distorted, and Scale to Fill keeps the proportions if the shapes differ.

  6. 6

If a color covers the video

From ProPresenter 7.11, the slide and presentation background color sit above the Media layer. If a solid color hides your loop, turn off the background color on that slide or presentation.

  7. 7

    Play the countdown

Add the countdown MP4 to the Media Bin. In the Inspector, set Playback Behavior to Stop so it plays once and does not jump back to 5:00. Click it five minutes before the service starts. When it reaches zero, bring up your welcome slide or first song. The Clear Media button removes what is on the Media layer and leaves your slides in place.
